Can I be so bold as to offer a correction to your info on the theatre in "Tommy" re Blog.

The theatre where Elton John performs Pinball Wizard is actually the Kings Theatre in Southsea. The sequences shot in the doomed pier ballroom feature Oliver Reed & Ann Margaret dancing whilst a young Tommy looks on from the balcony.

Ken Russell uses shots of the burning pier to abstract effect in the "I'm Free" sequence as Roger Daltrey runs barechested along the promenade.
