Reach For The Sky

It was probably around 1955 when I was a pupil at St Joseph's Primary School in Chalfont St Peter when I saw a crew filming a scene for the film.

It was when about 4 of them, all from hospital in bandages, were driving an open top Bentley. They came out from Bull Lane, near St Joseph's RC Church and onto the main road and roared up the hill towards the Three Pigeons pub & Gerrards Cross. Just as they got onto the main road a furniture lorry came out from a side turning and nearly hit them and the driver shouted out, 'What's your name, Death?'

As a young person what intrigued me is the number of times they shot the scene and the time it seemed to take.
